The village in the snow
Still, as under a warm roof,
If the village in the soft snow must ;
sleeping in the alder of the Bach,
bare ice of the lake bottom.
willow stand all the white need hair
mirrors in a rigid flood;
All quiet, cold and clear
Like death, the rest forever.
wide, as far as the eye,
no sound the ear hears,
blue to the blue sky is
Sacht the smoke rising from the snow.
