Some grammar:

1. On the question word Wer ?

You can inquire about the personality of the name, behalf of a stranger: Wer ist das ?. On the question word Woher ? You ask about the place of residence unknown person, where he came from: Woher kommen Sie ?. Instead Wie geht ' s Ihnen ? You can also say briefly Wie geht ' s ?, if you know very well of whom to contact. It sounds less stiff, friendly and very directly.
